Straight-through valve

Valve in which the valve inlet and outlet are located on the same axis opposite the valve body. Almost all types of control valves are designed as straight-through valves, including globe valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, ball valves, and rotary cone valves. Standardized flange connections and installation lengths ensure that valves of the same type but from different manufacturers are easily interchangeable, which greatly simplifies system planning and maintenance.
In contrast to straight-through valves, 3-way valves, angle valves (where the axes of the valve inlet and outlet are perpendicular to each other), and Z-type valves (where the axes of the valve inlet and outlet are parallel but offset from each other) are also available for special applications.
