Compressor

A compressor is used to compress gases, increasing their pressure and density for use in a specific process. There are two main types of compressors: turbo compressors (fluid kinetic machines) and piston compressors (displacement machines). Turbo compressors are used for large volume flows with a relatively small pressure increase, while piston compressors are suited for small throughputs with a very high pressure ratio.
