SIP (Sterilization in Place)
The SIP process (Sterilization in Place) is an extension of the CIP process that adds an additional sterilization step and is usually carried out using the same installation. The sterilization of hygiene-critical processes takes place at the end of the actual CIP cleaning. This ensures that any microorganisms still active in the system are killed using hot water or saturated pure steam at high temperatures (typically 140°C). This effect can be enhanced by adding chemical disinfectants.
